Management Team


Arnoud Maas - Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Maas has a long history in the consumer goods sector, particularly in the European and Asian food divisions of the former Sara Lee Corporation, which had operations in more than 40 countries and sold its product in over 180 nations worldwide. In the last three years, he has worked closely with the CEO and Board of Vroegop, a leading vertically integrated organic food company based in the Netherlands, where he assisted in strategically opening new distribution channels and market opportunities. Early in his career, Mr. Maas was a partner at Accenture, Kurt Salmon, as well as Capgemini Consulting, specializing in the consumer goods sector. He later held senior executive positons in retail, including as CEO of a leading chain of bookstores, and ultimately in the food sector, where he gained essential multi-jurisdictional management experience and extensive industry contacts. Mr. Maas holds a business degree from Sheffield University in the UK and a Masters in Economics from Keio University in Tokyo.

Peter Gianulis - Executive VP of Corporate Development, Director, and member of the Audit Committee
Mr. Gianulis has over 20 years of experience in the consumer sector, particularly in the natural products and organic food industry. He has been involved in numerous publicly traded and private companies in the sector and has invested in or advised over twenty natural and organic food companies. Mr. Gianulis was formerly a partner at Saranac Capital Management (formerly Salomon Brothers Hedge Fund Group), a NYC-based hedge fund. In 2005, Mr. Gianulis founded Carrelton Asset Management, an asset management and private equity firm specializing in small and micro-cap companies with the mandate to invest in the natural product, consumer, and mining sectors. Mr. Gianulis graduated with an MBA from Cornell University and a BA from the University of California at San Diego.

Marcus Meurs - President & COO, Director
Marcus has over twenty five years experience in the natural and organic food industry having started various companies throughout his career. In 2003, he started Pure Nature’s growing it to over US$30 million in annual sales before selling the company to SunOpta, a leading global company focused on organic, Non-GMO and specialty foods, in 2009. He has managed all facets of a food company from operations, sales and distribution, growing and processing and packaging.

Rients van der Wal - Managing Director - Europe
Mr. Rients van der Wal is in charge of our importing and distribution business (Organto B.V.) in Europe based in Breda. Mr. Rients van der Wal brings over 15 years of experience in the produce and organic food industry. Mr. Rients van der Wal particularly in business development & managing overseas supply programs into key European Retailers. Mr. Rients van der Wal has an extensive experience as entrepreneur in the fresh food & FMCG sectors in Europe & East Africa. Mr. Rients van der Wal perviously worked in various management & business development roles.

Andrew Yau - Chief Financial Officer & Corporate Secretary
Mr. Andrew Yau holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Business Administration degree from the University of British Columbia and has been in accounting and finance roles with publicly listed companies since 2006. Mr. Yau has an extensive accounting background, having previously served as Chief Financial Officer or Controller of several TSX and TSX-V listed companies where he was responsible for all aspects of accounting, tax compliance, managing banking relationships, financial reporting, and developing internal control frameworks. Mr. Yau's strong working knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards, public company reporting requirements, and internal controls, has been instrumental to Organto’s development since the inception of the Company. Mr. Yau is presently also the Chief Financial Officer of Columbus Gold Corp., a TSX listed company.

Jorge Martinez - VP Marketing & Technology
Mr. Jorge Martinez holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Miami with concentrations in International Marketing and Engineering, and further studies in Project Management at the University of British Columbia. Mr. Martinez has over 20 years of experience in Corporate Development and Communications, particularly in the natural resource and technology industries.

Andres Pullin - Regional Manager - Guatemala
Mr. Andres Pullin has a strong knowledge of local Guatemala farming and plant operations. Mr. Andres Pullin i responsible for all facets of operations including organic farming, community relations and packing plant. Mr. Andres Pullin his family has long-history of organic farming in Guatemala – Organic coffee plantations.

Alejandro Bottini – Global Organic Agronomist and Operations Manager
Mr. Alejandro Bottini has over 30 years of experience in the agricultural and food trading sectors, particularly in the natural products and organic food industries. He has been involved in numerous public and private companies in the sector as both a partner and as an advisor. Mr. Bottini was formerly founder and partner at Frozen Organics SRL. Mr. Bottini graduated in Agricultural Management from the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina, was a Fulbright Fellow at the University of Minnesota, USA, is a private SMEs advisor and developer, and part time expert at IDB, World Bank and UNDP.

Steve Bromley - Advisor
Mr. Bromley brings over 30 years of food industry experience to Organto, having served as CEO and a Director of SunOpta Inc. from 2007-2015. SunOpta is a global leader in non-GMO, organic and specialty foods with revenues in excess of $1 billion, substantial manufacturing and integrated supply operations, and a diverse global customer base. Mr. Bromley joined SunOpta in 2001 as CFO and served in that role until 2004 when he was appointed President and COO, through to his appointment as CEO. Prior to joining SunOpta, Mr. Bromley spent 15 years in the dairy and meat industries and four years in public accounting. Mr. Bromley is a Chartered Professional Accountant and Certified General Accountant.

Robert Giustra - Chair of the Board, and member of the Audit Committee

Mr. Robert Giustra has been actively engaged in venture capital markets for 23 years. He is a former investment banker with a national investment dealer where he co-founded the institutional equity sales department and he has held senior executive positions and board seats with a number of publicly traded companies. Mr. Giustra is the Chairman and CEO of Columbus Gold Corporation, which in 2015 and 2017 was recognized as a top 50 best performing company on the OTCQX and in 2015 achieved a top 10 ranking in the mining component of the TSX Venture Exchange. Mr. Giustra is member of the TSX-V's Local Advisory Committee and a graduate in Economics from the University of Western Ontario.

Jeff Klenda - Director & Chair of the Audit Committee
Current CEO of Ur-Energy. Jeff graduated from the University of Colorado in 1980 and began his career in financing specializing in venture capital offerings. Prior to founding Ur-Energy in 2004, he worked as a Certified Financial Planner and was a member of the International Board of Standards and Practices and served as President of Security First Financial, a company he founded to provide consultation to individuals and corporations seeking investment management and early stage funding. Over the last 30 years, Mr. Klenda has acted as an officer and/or director for numerous publicly traded companies. Mr. Klenda co-founded Ur-Energy in 2004. Mr. Klenda has served as the Chair of the Board of Directors and Executive Director of Ur-Energy since 2006.

Javier Reyes - Director
Mr. Javier Reyes began his professional and financial services career in 1996 at a well-known brokerage firm in Mexico City. In 2001, he founded a financial consultancy company, where he became the CEO. Mr. Reyes is the Founder, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Antares Capital Management and Cygnus Asset Management, and manages three hedge funds: Antares Capital Fund, Antares Oil & Gas Fund and Cygnus Real Estate Opportunity Fund. Mr. Reyes currently holds the following positions: President of Credipresto, S.A. de C.V. ENR. (since 2007) and President of Mex e Trade Asesores, S.C. (since 2004). Mr. Reyes has also held the following positions: Chief Executive Office of Mex e Trade On Line, S.C. (2001-2003); Financial Manager of Fabrica de Calzado Liz Ardel, S.A. (1998-2000); and Financial Advisor of Estrategia Bursatil, S.A. (1995-1997). Mr. Reyes holds a Bachelor's Degree in Economics and Business Administration and also holds a Masters in Finance.
